The game that was voted most likely to never release has been delayed. Playstation Studios President Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed via the PlayStation Blog that The Last Guardian has been delayed from October 24th and now will release on December 6th. According to Shuhei; The Last Guardian development team encountered more bugs than anticipated while in the final stages of development. So to ensure the game would be the experience the developers envisioned, they need the extra time.
The Last Guardian was first revealed back at E3 in 2009 for a release on the PlayStation 3 in 2011. Delays and lack of information made the game community think that it may never release, but in 2015 the game was reintroduced at E3 now in development for the PlayStation 4. This year Sony finally announced a release date giving everyone hope they would finally have a chance to play the game.
The Last Guardian is designed and directed by Fumito Ueda, who also created Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. The game shares design, gameplay, and story elements of these previous games. It features a young boy who befriends a giant creature, as the two work together to escape a mysteries castle.
